Vintage cuckoo clock made in Germany features a familiar design of birds and maple leaves on its topper and a bird and maple leaf on each side. It has white Roman numerals on the clock face, an access door on the back, and covered portholes on each side for access to some of the interior mechanisms.
The clock does work, but has some issues that may require repair or adjustment. You can see from the video that the cuckoo works well, but it does not always strike the correct number of times. It will sometimes strike twice on the half hour and will strike one extra time on the hour. This occurs after the clock has been wound, not every time, but occasionally. After two or three hours, it corrects itself and strikes the correct number of times on both the hour and half hour.
Cosmetically, the clock is in good presentable condition. There is a chip on the roof about 3/4 inch long, where it looks like the topper may have been pushed up at one time, causing the topper\'s nail to pull some of the wood off. See last picture. This area is covered by the topper so it doesn\'t show when the clock is on the wall. There is also a 3/8\" chip on the back side of the topper, which does not show from the front. Some of the nails in the roof have risen from the surface about 1/8 of an inch. I did not attempt to pound them back in place.
There are no other chips or cracks or damage to the body of the clock.
The pendulum and hands are not original; they were missing when I obtained the clock (approximately 30 years ago) and were purchased from a local clock repair shop, which is no longer in business. The chains and weights are original and are in very good condition. Each weight has the number 2 imprinted on it.
