Now this is a proper piece of pipe-smoking history. This handsome English billiard was made specifically for the 10th World Cup in Pipesmoking, held at Ascot Racecourse in England on October 14, 2001. The official competition pipes were supplied by Alfred Dunhill and GBD, built to the same competition standard for the event.
The pipe wears a rich smooth finish with attractive grain, twin brass-tone rings, and that killer blue acrylic accent at the shank. It’s a traditional billiard at heart, but dressed up enough to immediately stand apart from an everyday production pipe. Another surviving example is stamped “2001 WORLD PIPE SMOKING / WORLD CUP-ASCOT / MADE IN LONDON ENGLAND.”
And this one is unsmoked. That matters on a competition pipe, because these were literally produced to be loaded up and smoked at the event. More than 200 competitors from 16 countries took part, with the winning time topping three hours.
A beautiful English-made billiard, tied directly to one of the biggest events in competitive pipe smoking, and preserved more than 20 years later without ever seeing a match.

My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it’s going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%.
