1926 Aircraft Photo RARE Sikorsky S-35 Rene Fonck Transatlantic Attempt Crashed For Sale

An extremely rare original period print showing the sole Sikorsky S-35, built and modified for Rene Fonck\'s attempt to win the Orteig Prize for the first non-stop transatlantic flight. The aircraft first flew in August of 1926, and the attempt was made a month later. The aircraft was overweight and crashed on takeoff, killing the radio operator, James Clavier, and the mechanic, Jacob Islamoff. Fonck and his co-pilot, Lt.
