Offered is an original vintage military clothing and equipment grouping that was found together in one tote. Multiple pieces are marked/stenciled R. A. BABCOCK, and the canvas personal-effects/duffle-style bag is marked:
R. A. BABCOCK
HARBOR SPRINGS
MICHIGAN
The grouping includes:
• 1 dark blue Navy-style jumper with matching trousers
• 2 complete white Navy-style uniforms, each consisting of a jumper and matching trousers
• 2 additional military shirts
• 2 pairs of white canvas military leggings
• 1 pair of khaki/olive canvas M-1938-style military leggings
• Named canvas personal-effects/duffle-style bag
• Military/Navy insignia and additional accessories shown in the photographs
The M-1938-style leggings are consistent with WWII-era U.S. military equipment. The white canvas leggings are the less-common white version of the M-1938 pattern.
Several pieces have the name R. A. BABCOCK, providing strong evidence that these items were associated with the same individual. The canvas bag specifically identifies Harbor Springs, Michigan.
Historical research also located an R. A. Babcock listed with the 105th Infantry, Company K, 3rd Battalion, 27th Infantry Division in a 1940–41 division history. However, I have NOT independently established that this individual is definitely the same R. A. Babcock represented by the items in this grouping. That connection is therefore being offered as research information only and is not represented as proven provenance.
The exact identity and complete military service history of the original owner are unknown.
