Original 1/4-gross box containing three original wrapped packs of 12 unsharpened No. 966 Red Hexagon pencils. No. 966 Red Hexagon, Regular hardness. These are colored indelible/wash pencils, not graphite pencils.
These are vintage water-soluble “wash” pencils made for writing, drawing, sketching and painting. Color could be applied dry, then worked with a wet brush for watercolor-style effects, reflected in Eberhard Faber’s original “Paint with Pencils” advertising.
Includes rare and unusual WWII-erapackaging. Each dozen includes the original notice explaining that Mongol Colored & Copying Pencils were being supplied without metal caps to save metals essential for National Defense.
