An original WW2 period photo of a US soldier on the German front examining his snowed-in mortar. Given the early period with the snow, this is likely in the north possibly near the Hurtgen Forest, as the Netherlands had yet to be liberated and the caption indicates they are in Germany. This area would later become the site of the Ardennes Offensive, better known as the Battle of the Buldge.
