Vintage 1965 U.S. Navy Service Dress Khaki Lieutenant Commander Uniform Jacket – Size 42R
Up for sale is a beautifully preserved original United States Navy Service Dress Khaki uniform coat dating to the Vietnam War era. This tropical-weight 100% wool jacket is marked 42R Standard and retains its period officer shoulder boards, Navy buttons, and four-ribbon service rack.
The coat represents the classic Service Dress Khaki uniform once worn by U.S. Navy officers and is an excellent example for a military uniform, Vietnam War, U.S. Navy, or insignia collection.
1965 DSA Contract / Vietnam War Era
The interior label bears Contract No. DSA-1-6859.
The DSA marking identifies procurement through the Defense Supply Agency. This style of DSA-1 contract numbering is associated with the mid-1960s transition period and supports a 1965 Vietnam-era production date.
Service Dress Khaki was a distinctive Navy officer uniform used during the mid-20th century, including the Vietnam era. The uniform was later discontinued, making surviving period wool examples increasingly desirable to military collectors.
Lieutenant Commander Rank & Insignia
The jacket is fitted with officer shoulder boards displaying:
* Lieutenant Commander – O-4 / LCDR rank
* Two medium gold stripes with a narrow gold stripe positioned between them
* Gold embroidered five-pointed Line Officer stars
* Matching boards on both shoulders
The Line Officer star denotes an unrestricted/general line officer eligible for command responsibilities at sea.

Excellent vintage condition.
The wool remains structured, crisp, and clean with excellent overall color. The interior lining is intact and clean, and the buttons, shoulder boards, insignia, and ribbon rack remain securely attached.
No heavy wear are visible. A couple small holes on arms shown in last 2 pictures. The small marks on the lapel look like pen maybe.
