Vintage STARSHIP ONE Patti Sherman Matchbook Bobby Sherman Estate Boeing 720 For Sale

Vintage Diamond Match “Rocketbox” personalized matchbox, custom printed “Starship One” and “Patti Sherman.”

Rare vintage “Starship One” personalized matchbook bearing the name “Patti Sherman,” acquired directly from the estate of entertainer Bobby Sherman.

The front features a gold illustration of a four-engine jet with “Starship One” beneath it. The reverse is personalized “Patti Sherman.”

This is a particularly interesting piece because Bobby Sherman and his manager Ward Sylvester were involved in the creation of the famous Starship, the customized Boeing 720 used during the 1970s by some of the biggest names in rock music.

The aircraft became especially famous through its association with Led Zeppelin, and was also chartered by artists including The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and others.

Patti Sherman was Bobby Sherman's wife during the period in which the Starship was developed and operated.

I have been unable to locate another example of this particular personalized Starship One matchbook.

Provenance: Acquired directly at the Bobby Sherman estate sale in California.

Because I have not found documentation establishing exactly where these personalized matchbooks were distributed or used, I am not representing this as having been used aboard the aircraft itself. It is being offered as a vintage Starship One/Patti Sherman item with Bobby Sherman estate provenance.

Manufactured by Diamond Match Division, Los Angeles, California, in their “Rocketbox” format. The box was custom foil printed with the Starship One aircraft design and personalized “Patti Sherman.
