Vintage black-and-white historical photograph/print featuring the Richard Ballantyne Monument, commemorating the beginnings of the LDS Sunday School movement.
The image shows the monument with a young girl standing beside it. A period label on the reverse provides historical information stating that the seven-foot granite monument with bronze plaque was unveiled at the April Conference in 1942, near the site where Richard Ballantyne and approximately twenty pupils began Sunday School on December 9, 1849. The label cites Improvement Era, February 1942, page 95.
The piece is mounted on heavy textured board and has an old typed label on the front reading “Richard Ballantyne Monument.” The reverse is marked “OP2271,” which appears to be a former collection or archival inventory number.
Approximate overall size: 10” wide x 12” tall.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related toning, discoloration, edge and corner wear, light surface marks, and handwritten archival/inventory notation on the reverse. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition.
