Impressive six-point star design with a silver-tone finish, detailed scrollwork, black lettering and a raised gold-tone California State Seal centerpiece.

The reverse is clearly maker-marked:

The Ed Jones Company was a well-known California manufacturer of law-enforcement, fire, security and identification badges.
This appears to be an older, purpose-made badge for PHY-DELL Security rather than an unmarked generic security badge.
Information on PHY-DELL Security has proven difficult to locate, making this an interesting piece for collectors of vintage private security, California badges and Ed Jones Co. insignia.
Badge is in very nice vintage condition with normal age-related surface wear, scratches, discoloration and patina. Please examine all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description.
Original pin and clasp hardware is present on the reverse as shown.
No polishing or restoration has been performed. There is a little glue on the back that I scratched off most lightly with my fingernail. I didnt want to do anything to disrupt the finish or condition. But it seems to me it is some type of glue that somehow got there.
Sold strictly as an obsolete collectible/display badge. It conveys no current authority or official status.
