Impressive large-scale vintage Mottahedeh covered pedestal tureen, measuring approximately 13” tall × 14.5” wide handle-to-handle.
Produced in Italy, this substantial decorative piece features a distinctive yellow ground with intricate black scenic and Neoclassical decoration.
The bowl displays finely rendered pastoral figural scenes with musicians and elegantly dressed figures beneath elaborate canopies.
Classical details continue throughout with repeating laurel borders, lyre-and-wreath motifs on the domed lid, bold architectural open handles and a sculptural artichoke/pinecone-form finial. The elevated pedestal base gives the tureen exceptional presence.
The underside retains original circular “A Mottahedeh design” labels, an Italy marking and a handwritten identification appearing consistent with S.5007. Comparable pieces from this yellow-and-black Mottahedeh series are commonly identified in the secondary market as Creil / Creil-style ware, referencing historic French ceramic designs.
This is a particularly substantial Mottahedeh decorative form at 14.5” across the handles, well suited to a serious ceramics collection or statement display.

Good vintage condition with age-related wear visible throughout. Fine glaze crazing is present, together with scattered surface wear, discoloration and areas of wear/loss to portions of the black painted/printed detailing and trim. Small chip on one side on the trim.
