This is a vintage and early generation Naomi Kanoyama straight razor strop made for and exported to the American market. Distributors like CERTIFYD would import the strops and stamp them with their own marketing and trademark symbols for sale in the USA.
These early kanayama strops are made from the same or even better high quality Japanese shell cordovan as the more recent strops made by the late Mr. Kanoyama. The shell is very thick at 4.8mm which is significantly thicker than even the current kanayama 90000 strops which are 3.5 to 4mm thick. This is also a more premium product than the entry level "fine stars/five stars" kanayamas that pop up on which use thinner shell and have less stropping surface than a Llama brand strop.
The draw is a little bit "stickier" than contemporary kanayamas and leaves an incredibly keen and perfect shaving edge. The linen is astronomically better than the canvas used on the newer Llama strops and does not require breaking in. The strop is well taken care of and conditioned in the traditional way, no neetsfoot oil or other things that can ruin the draw and coloring of vintage shell strops. It is clean and ready for use.
These strops have legendary performance and were crafted by the most famous artisan strop maker in Japan who has since passed away. Making these strops even more highly collectable and harder to find.
Finding a vintage Llama brand kanayama strop in this kind of condition is quite rare.
I would love to keep it but need liquid funds to to import more products, the tariffs are making it really hard to be profitable.
