The brass ferrule connecting the bowl to the amber-tone stem is stamped \"Made in Holland\" and \"Goede-Waagen\"; the mark of the Goedewaagen pottery, a Gouda ceramics maker with roots as a pipemaking family dating back to 1779, which grew into one of the best-known names in Dutch ceramics (holding a Royal charter by the 1930s) before it closed in 1982.
