A superb piece of vintage British garage/workshop equipment — a Davenset High Rate Discharge Battery Tester, manufactured by Davenset Electrical Works, Leicester, England.
The analogue moving-iron meter is marked for 5 volts and shows coloured OK / Recharge sections together with an A.H. capacity scale at the 20-hour rate.
The reverse retains its original operating-instruction plate, marked:
“Under British Patent No. 616860 With World Coverage.”
Fitted with two substantial pointed battery contacts, including the adjustable contact.
Approximately 12 inches long from the end of the handle to the tip of the fixed contact.
A particularly attractive piece of mid-20th-century electrical/automotive equipment, ideal for a vintage garage, workshop, automobilia or electrical-instrument collection.
Condition: Good vintage used condition with age-related wear, surface oxidation and losses to the painted Davenset badge. Meter face and coloured scale remain clear. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
