The Ivanhoe Restaurant was a legendary, medieval-themed restaurant and theater complex in Chicago, Illinois that operated from 1920 to 1975. it originally opened as a Prohibition-era speakeasy before expanding into an elaborate, castle-like destination dubbed the "Seventh Wonder of Chicago".Inside the "Ivanhoe Castle," patrons dined and danced in a replica of Robin Hood's Sherwood Forest. The basement featured an eerie, funhouse-style bar called the "Weird Catacombs," built with artificial stalactites and bones embedded in the walls. In 1966, the owners added a highly successful theater-in-the-round that hosted Hollywood icons like Christopher Walken, Rita Moreno, and Zsa Zsa Gabor.This specific piece features the signature Ivanhoe crest with two golden lions holding a divided shield displaying medieval imagery (knives, a tankard, a bull, and spoons).
