Strike Fighter Squadron 102 (VF-102) , known as the Diamondbacks , traces its roots to July 1, 1955 , when it was established as VA-36 and redesignated as VF-102 that same day. (Note: This VF-102 is unrelated to the earlier squadron of the same name.)
The squadron has flown various aircraft over its history, including the F-4 Phantom II , F-14 Tomcat , and today, the F/A-18F Super Hornet . VF-102 has supported numerous deployments and operations across the globe and is well-known for its signature red-and-white diamondback snake insignia.
