It is a very scarce SACT Two-Valve Récepteur produced in Gennevilliers, just northwest of Paris. Gennevilliers was a major center where countless workshops appeared to manufacture components, kits and receivers for the rapid growth of the Parisian radio market in the 1920's.
Although it is difficult to find concise information, I am postulating that "SACT" might be the acronym for something like "Société d'Applications de Construction Télégraphie Sans Fil" and consistent with company/workshop naming in the 1920's. Further, I believe that "J. Bals" was a retailer in "Agen", France southwest of Paris and "No. 130" was his sequential serial number for items sold in the Agen region... It is probably the retailer that scratched all this information on the bottom of the radio.
This receiver is in nice condition, with very little indication it is 100+ years old! The unblemished front panel and top are of hard rubber and exhibit a pleasing patina. The sides and back of the set are black leatherette covered wood panels and in great shape. Everything sits on a dark finished hardwood base.
The coil assembly has one fixed and the second hinged to allow for movement from a parallel position to a perpendicular position versus the stationary coil. The positioning arm component has had a repair but looks just fine.
The valves both have good filaments. They both have blue glass and were produced by Fotos (Grammont): the tipped valve likely a V.O. while the spherical valve is a Triode Universel.
Internally, the set looks like the day it was assembled. The components and wiring are undisturbed. The audio transformer has the proper continuity on both the input and output. The battery cable has all leads marked for their respective voltages.
If you are looking for an early, sweet two-valve slant front receiver or a nice example of an early French receiver, this SACT Two-Valve Récepteur should make the mark!
Dimensions: About 15" wide to the outside of the coils, 6.5" deep and 6.25" tall (10" to the top of the valves).
