Here are the details of the piece:• Maker: Rodger \"Tiny\" Spencer (Deceased 2009)• Model: Custom Drop-Point Hunter / Skinner• Handle Material: Authenticated Fossilized Pleistocene Cave Bear Tooth (personally guaranteed by the maker at the time of purchase). Please note: The tooth handle over the past 30+ years has developed natural age cracks, which have been temporarily secured with strips of clear tape to prevent further shifting. I have left this tape intact to allow your professional team or the buyer/collector to safely remove and conserve it.serve it.• Hilt/Bolster Guard: Seamlessly fit, intricately hand-engraved and textured brass guard with a mirror-polished luster finish.• Display Stand: Included custom authentic deer/elk antler crown pedestal display stand mounted on a finished 2 species hardwood plaque.• Condition: Excellent, completely uncleaned, original bright finish.• Provenance: Purchased directly from Tiny Spencer at the MGM Reno Gun & Knife Show in 1993 for $285. Tiny Spencer was hugely renowned as the founder of the Alaska Wildlife Museum, and known for his working with rare, exotic arctic materials stemming from his past life as an Alaskan Pipeline ironworker, wilderness guide, top taxidermist. He was military veteran as well. He was so proud of this knife\'s Cave Bear tooth and when I was haggling with him on his price to buy it there at the show in 1993, he didn\'t budge on price, and said with his wife present, that he was strongly considering keeping this knife for his own collection!! At that time, I wasn\'t very familiar with Tiny Spencer Knife Works, but several lookers at his display booth told me they were huge Spencer Knife collectors, and 2 had offered to buy it from me right then and there, for $500!!. So I said no, and kept it!
I have attached a few High Res photos showing this knife layout vertically alongside a tape measure, and highlighting the SPENCER blade Embossing and the Bolster brass guard engraving, as well as the Cave Bear Tooth handle.
If sold here before it is sold through another famous knife sale site.
