Ultimate Fantastic Four Vols. 4–11 — complete consecutive eight-volume Marvel trade paperback set.
Eight-book run covering Ultimate Fantastic Four #19–57 plus Annuals #1–2, spanning the series from 2005 through 2008. These trades capture the middle and late period of Marvel\'s original Ultimate Universe, when the line was still actively reinventing major Fantastic Four concepts.
The set also crosses an unusually important piece of Marvel publishing history: Vol. 5 contains the storyline that introduced the Marvel Zombies universe.
Included:
Vol. 4 — Inhuman
Collects Ultimate Fantastic Four #19–20 and Annual #1. Early Ultimate-era reinterpretations of major Fantastic Four concepts as the series expands beyond its initial origin material.
Vol. 5 — Crossover
Collects #21–26, by Mark Millar and Greg Land. The key volume in the run: Reed makes contact with what appears to be another heroic reality, only to encounter the infected world that became the foundation of Marvel Zombies. The storyline directly precedes Robert Kirkman\'s Marvel Zombies series and is generally treated as the starting point for that universe.
Vol. 6 — Frightful
Collects #27–32, continuing Mark Millar\'s run with Greg Land and Mitch Breitweiser. Features Reed attempting to undo the FF\'s origin through time travel, the return of Doctor Doom, the zombie Fantastic Four and the Ultimate version of the Frightful Four.
Vol. 7 — God War
Collects #33–38 and marks the beginning of the Mike Carey / Pasqual Ferry creative team. A major tonal shift into large-scale cosmic science fiction involving Seed Nineteen and a war extending far beyond Earth.
Vol. 8 — Devils
Collects #39–41 and Annual #2, written by Mike Carey with art including Mark Brooks, Stuart Immonen and Frazer Irving. Introduces the Ultimate Universe\'s version of Diablo and returns to the Mole Man/Baxter Building mythology.
Vol. 9 — Silver Surfer
Collects #42–46, by Mike Carey and Pasqual Ferry. Reed\'s experiments with a Cosmic Cube tear through dimensional barriers and bring the Ultimate interpretation of the Silver Surfer / Power Cosmic into the series.
Vol. 10 — Ghosts
Collects #47–53. Mike Carey\'s run moves through Ultimate versions of Red Ghost, Crimson Dynamo and Thanos, with Reed\'s Cosmic Cube becoming the center of an escalating interdimensional conflict.
Vol. 11 — Salem\'s Seven
Collects #54–57, the final volume in this set. The FF uncover a threat beneath Mole Man\'s underground city and encounter Ultimate reinterpretations of Agatha Harkness and Salem\'s Seven. Published in October 2008.
Taken together, Vols. 4–11 cover the transition from the Warren Ellis / Mark Millar-era Ultimate FF into Mike Carey\'s extended run, including the birth of Marvel Zombies and Ultimate versions of Silver Surfer, Thanos, Diablo, Agatha Harkness and several other major Fantastic Four concepts.
