Wild Weasels are the "First in, Last out" of the target area. Their mision is SEAD (Supression of Enemy Air Defenses). They attempt to find and kill the radar SAMS (Surface-to-Air-Missiles) before the vulnerable strike aircraft arrive.
Then Major Leo K. Thorsness was awarded the Medal of Honor for a Wild Weasel mission in which he destroyed two radar SAM sites, shot down one MiG and damaged another as he provided cover for a downed fellow F-105 pilot.
