Contractor: These were manufactured in Germany by Carl Eickhorn (Solingen) under contract for the Danish military.
Design Background: The M/62 is based closely on the U.S. M5A1 bayonet design for the M1 Garand (utilizing the stud fastener under the barrel rather than a full muzzle ring), but with distinct Danish modifications, including the molded black checkered plastic grips and the unique wood-laminate scabbard body.
The Danish military adopted the M1 Garand (designated Gevær M/50) post-WWII via U.S. military aid, later ordering these M/62 bayonets to equip troops through the 1960s and 1970s.
