One button hasthe red number 2 (for the leader of The Village),and the second hasnumber 6 (for the Patrick McGoohan eponymous \'prisoner\'.) The artworkhas been re-formatted from our popular 1.25” buttons to moreclosely resemble the buttons from the show.
ThePrisoner is a 17-episode British television series. Starring andco-created by Patrick McGoohan, it combined spy fiction with elementsof science fiction, allegory, and psychological drama. The seriesfollows a British former secret agent who is abducted and heldprisoner in an isolated coastal village resort where his captors tryto find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. In The Village,everyone has a number instead of a name, and wears a button withtheir number.
Althoughsold as a thriller in the mould of the previous series starringMcGoohan, Danger Man (1960) [retitled as \"Secret Agent\" inthe US], the show\'s combination of 1960s countercultural themes andsurreal setting had a far-reaching effect on science fiction/fantasyprogramming, and on popular culture in general.
