HUSSAR SABRE WITH SMOOTH FINGER SCABBARD, CIRCA 1750
This saber is a faithful replica of a hussar saber. Hussar sabers are the common term for sabers used by Polish cavalry, especially hussars, in the 17th and 18th centuries of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This saber was the successor to the Hungarian-Polish saber, the so-called \"batorówka,\" common in Poland in the 16th century.

The blade was circularly curved at the lower end (blade), with a center of gravity 20-25 cm high. The upper (located near the hilt), blunt part of the blade, called the scabbard, was used to deflect opponents\' cuts. The lower part of the blade (point) ended in a feather – a double edge allowing for thrusting. Both sides of the blade are smooth. This saber features a slightly curved handle. The closed guard (inclined at 105 degrees to the crossguard) protected the hand and ensured proper balance. A brass hood covering the rear of the handle reinforced the grip.
The brass crossguard with whiskers reinforced the weapon at its weakest point – the point where the blade joins the hilt – and further protected the hand. A brass thumb rest located in the center of the crossguard allowed for better control of the saber during an attack.
The set also includes a steel scabbard with a single fitting in the form of a steel scabbard with a stud.
Both sides of the blade are smooth.
This model is a faithful replica of a hussar saber.
STEEL AND MAINTENANCE
The saber is not sharpened or designed for sharpening (not suitable for fencing). The blade (blade) is made of polished carbon steel. Polishing is performed to achieve a uniform, matte, and smooth finish. We recommend periodically treating the blade with a very thin layer of oil or another lubricant designed for steel (this will help maintain the high quality of the product). The scabbard is chrome-plated and requires no maintenance.
The price does not include the stand shown in the video.
