Antique two-volume set of Personal Memoirs of P. H. Sheridan, by General Philip H. Sheridan, published in New York by Charles L. Webster & Company in 1888.
This is the first edition of Sheridan’s memoirs, complete in two volumes. The books feature the original green cloth bindings with gilt lettering and decorative gilt cavalry scenes on the front covers. The spines also retain the distinctive four-star general insignia.
Sheridan was one of the foremost Union commanders of the Civil War, serving alongside Ulysses S. Grant and William T. Sherman and becoming particularly well known for his cavalry operations and his campaigns in the Shenandoah Valley. His memoirs are an important firsthand account of his military career and the Civil War era.
