This is a polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains the claw or pedipalp of a scorpion along with a few legs, 2 mites and a barklouse from the Cretaceous Period.
The scorpion appears to have lost its claw in the sticky tree resin that fossilized over time into amber.
These organisms would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops!
Geological studies have dated Burmite amber to be around 100 million years old.
The piece itself weighs 3.2 grams with approximate dimensions of 4.1 cmlength by2.2 cm width and 0.35 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.
Burmese (Burmite)amber has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs.

Please note that thesaltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwatertest claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.
However, many ambersources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical(plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are moredense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My response shouldhelp demonstrate this.
