This is a handmade, hand painted curved, wood Mexican religious folk art box featuring a depiction of Jesus on the Cross and people in chains in Purgatory. The inside top has a painting of the Sacred heart. The outside is decorated with flowers. The piece is hand-painted and is definitely vintage, likely antique, adding to its unique and traditional appeal. Box is 6x8x 4(at the height of the curve) In vintage condition, in the style of metal retablo, but a box. The hinges do not work, the top is not connected to the base.
