#1) MARGARET KEANE (Deceased, Artist) Signed Block of "The American Woman" US Postage Stamps, Signed in Blue ballpoint Pen Ink in 1965, Includes the original owners Rough-draft Letter (folded) to Ms. Keane dated May 16, 1965 & has return envelope which appears to be handwritten by Ms. Keane, shows postmark of June 10, 1965 - Stamp Size: est. 2-1/8" tall by 4-1/8" wide (Horizontal Block with salvage) - Never Postally used - Color: Purple Stamps - Signed on Vintage stamps - Nice Condition, No splitting at the KEANE, Artist (deceased 2000) Signed Block of "Brussells - Universal and International Exhibition 1958" US Postage Stamps, Signed in Blue ballpoint Pen Ink in 1965, Includes the original owners Rough-draft Letter (folded) to Mr. Keane dated May 16, 1965 - Mr. Keane has also signed the backside - Stamp Size: est. 2" tall by 4-1/4" wide (Horizontal Block with salvage) - Never Postally used - Color: Maroon Stamps - Autographed on Original 1958 Stamps - SEE SCANS, Nice Condition, No splitting at the perforations But there is a neat crease across the top of stamps that goes thru the "n" in Keane from the 1965 mailing.

TRIVIA: In the 1960s, Margaret Keane's artwork was sold under the name of her husband, WALTER KEANE (October 7, 1915 – December 27, 2000), who claimed credit for her work. In March 1965, she divorced Walter. Ms. Keane is portrayed by Amy Adams in the 2014 film "BIG EYES", directed by TIM BURTON. In 1970, Margaret Keane announced to the world, via radio broadcast, that she was the true creator of the paintings. The Keanes continued to dispute the origin of the paintings, and after Walter Keane suggested to USA Today that the only reason Margaret claimed she was the painter was that she believed he was dead, she sued him in federal court for slander. At the hearing, the judge ordered both Margaret and Walter to create a big-eyed child painting in the courtroom to determine who was telling the truth. Walter declined to paint before the court, citing a sore shoulder, whereas Margaret completed her painting in a mere 53 minutes.
