A 8x10" vintage photo from an archive of over two thousand original historical Harness Racing photos that we acquired from the estate of a defunct east coast Harness Racing Association.
Many of the photos from this archive are very rare and some likely one of a kind.
Photo Overview
This is an original 8x10 winner\'s circle photograph taken at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Maryland on June 12, 1974. The image captures the Standardbred trotter Leadshot Hanover, wearing saddle cloth number 7, posed in harness with driver Roger Hammer still seated in the sulky moments after the win. The horse finished the race in 2:04:2 for a purse of $1,500, defeating Pepper\'s Sandy in second and Lt. Col. Joe in third.
Standing alongside the horse and driver are members of the Hammer family, including owners Roger R. and Beverly V. Hammer, who are shown smiling with a young child and other family members in the winner\'s circle as a packed grandstand crowd looks on in the background. The image was produced by Americana Photographers, the official track photography service for Rosecroft Raceway, and is a wonderful piece of 1970s harness racing memorabilia capturing both the sport and the personal pride of a family-owned and driven Standardbred.
