LYNN HANEY Santa "Christmas Songbirds" Style #1271 Signed 2001 with Tag
Professionally restored and truly special. As with all my restorations, I use everything original that santa had when I acquired him. I also embellish and replace anything he was missing, while keeping the integrity of original design.
Santa wears ivory wool coat, hat and mittens with red yarn embroidery made in Hungary with rabbit fur collar and pompom. Beneath coat is a red velour suit with wide green sash, tucked into tall brown boots. In left arm dangles a vintage wicker basket with burlap bow, ardinal, berries and greenery. Also dangles from his mitten is an antique wood drum with red tassels. On right arm dangles wicker basket of vintage apples and greenery. On his back and in his arms are handwrapped red gifts. On his right shoulder he carries beautiful tree of three cardinals, pinecones and burlap bow and burlap base. Dangling from tree is a glittery red snowflake. At his feet sits adorable raccoon.
19" tall from top of tree to the base and is approx. 12"w x 7"d. Base is 7"×7". He has his original beard, that has been carefully groomed to its original beauty and fullness. This piece is stunning.

Each character starts with Lynn Haney sculpting the original head & hands in clay. Haneys studio painters provide unique facial features. Beards & wigs are made by hand from lamb hair mohair, wools, and natural fibers. Talented seamstresses in villages located in Hungary handloom fabrics. Vermont knitters handloomed Lynn’s knitted designs. Hats, cloaks, and capes are added to complete the image for each character. In 2017, Lynn decided to retire his Santa studio, making them highly collected and cherished.
