John Chamberlain (1903 - 1995) was an American journalist, literary critic, and author. He began his career in journalism at The New York Times in 1926 and later worked for other prominent publications, including Fortune, Life, and The Wall Street Journal. He also authored several books, including his autobiography, A Life with the Printed Word, and The Roots of Capitalism.
Initially a \"New York literary liberal,\" Chamberlain\'s political views shifted in the 1940s toward libertarian and conservative ideas. This intellectual evolution led him to become a contributing editor for William F. Buckley Jr.\'s National Review and an editor for the free-market magazine, The Freeman. For over twenty-five years, he wrote a syndicated column for King Features, solidifying his role as a respected voice in American journalism and conservative thought.
Autograph/Signature clipping was obtained from a vintage scrapbook purchased at a Pack Memorial Public Library antiquarian book sale in Asheville, North Carolina.
