Vintage RPPC – Dormont Public School, Dormont, PA
Real photo postcard of the Dormont Public School in Dormont, Pennsylvania, with the caption "Dormont Public School – Dormont, Pa." hand-lettered in white on the image. The photograph was taken at a sharp upward angle from the street and shows a three-story light-colored school building with rows of arched upper windows, a recessed central entrance, and a curved Mission-style parapet with a round window at its peak. A steep sidewalk and stone steps run along the foreground, and overhead utility wires cross the sky. Dormont was incorporated as a borough in 1909, the first independent municipality in the South Hills of Allegheny County. Unused and unposted. The back has an AZO stamp box with all four triangles pointing up, a paper used from 1904 to 1918, dating this card circa 1910s. A great piece for collectors of Dormont and Pennsylvania topographical postcards, school and education history, or Pittsburgh South Hills history.
