This listing is for a polished pair of Deschutes Jasper from the Deschutes River Canyon, near Biggs Junction in Central Oregon. Itās a scenic jasper that features for dramatic landscapeālike patterns in earthy tones of browns, creams, and ochres. The original deposit mined by Hoot Elkins in the 1950\'s-1970\'s along the Deschutes river has long been exhausted, and the remaining site is now located in a protected area. Only old stock of Deschutes Jasper is available today, making it increasingly rare. This is a butterfly pair of Deschutes Jasper with a double-face polish, larger size, and concentric \"eye\" rings. Together, the set looks like a tree ring. These slabs were originally purchased polished intended for lapidary use. They have been stored stacked with other slabs for decades. As a result the polish is dull, with some visible scuff marks and storage wear. However, they look exactly as they do in the photos, as the photos are all shown dry, both in the shade and in sunlight. This is highly silicified, premium old-stock material and is fundamentally solid. They can be used as-is as a rustic display, or can be re-polished to give it a mirror finish. They can also be used for lapidary to make cabochons or other project.
