Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group 12 (CCDG-12) Wall Plaque, LCDR S. Hall 1996-97. US Navy Cruiser / Destroyer / Surface Staff - Cold War Era (1970s–1990s) A 6” diameter cast bronze (textured/polished) features the official crest of CCDG-12, including its traditional naval heraldry and group designation. The emblem is securely mounted to a shield-shaped solid wood backing. The bottom of the plaque features its original engraved black-painted brass presentation plate, inscribed: “Presented to LCDR STEPHEN HALL COMCRUDESGRU 12 26 FEB 96-14 NOV 97” The wooden shield is about 10-1/4” x 12”, and the piece is about 1-1/2” deep. It weighs 4-1/2 lbs. Hall (now USN-Ret.), previously had served as Junior Officer on the USS Benjamin Franklin (SSNN 640) and Combat Dystems Officer on the USS Sunfish (SSN 649)
Condition is Very Good, with minor nicks and finish-blemishes on the wood. See photos. Cruiser-Destroyer Group 12 was a major operational command of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, famously serving as the flagship command element for historic carrier battle groups—including the USS Enterprise and USS Theodore Roosevelt—during the Cold War and Gulf War eras.
