A striking Chinese ceramic vase featuring an elegant rounded form with a short neck and slightly flared rim. The vessel is covered in a muted olive/gray-green celadon-type glaze and decorated throughout with finely carved and relief-style floral scrollwork.
The decoration includes large stylized flowers, scrolling foliage, cloud/scroll motifs and lotus-petal ornamentation around the shoulder and lower body. Decorative bands with small impressed/incised patterns separate the main sections of the vase.
The underside is unglazed, showing the natural fired ceramic body and a substantial foot ring. The glaze has an attractive aged appearance with variation in tone and surface character.
