The Scotch-Irish of Southwestern Pennsylvania raised the 100th Pennsylvania Volunteers and saw heavy combat and losses at Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor and the Petersburg, Virginia Assaults incl the Battle of the Crater and the final bloody Battle of Fort Stedman March 25, 1865, where their commander, Lt Colonel Joseph Henry Pentecost died of wounds during Lee's Last Offensive. An Original December, 1864 Requisition for forage "to supply the animals of the regiment" received from Lt JS Pyle of the notable Scots-Irish 100th Pennsylvania Regiment , approved and signed by Lt Colonel JH Pentecost Commanding the 100th Pennsylvania Volunteers, and also signed by Bv Lt Pyle, and "approved by command of Brig General McLaughlin " 1p 8 x 11" ptd/ink.
