1880 Blackfeet Fighting "Scalping" Knife This listing features a rare circa 1880's Blackfeet Piegan fighting "scalping" knife. The knife is very similar to the Blackfoot dag knife pictured in John Bladwin's, "Indian Beaded Sheaths and Knives of the American Frontier" which shows it having a similar drop attached with crow feathers and hawk bells. The piece shows a thin worked blade typical of other knives which had been referred to as "scalping" knives. It shows a wooden handle which is adorned with brass tacks and there is a drop tied on with old rusted hawk trade bells and four crow feathers. Scalping knives are rare to come across as most example of knives are typical skinning or trade knives, with few surviving example of scalping knives outside of museum and private collections.
