Beautiful matched pair of large Arizona petrified wood bookends, cut from a single section of fossilized wood and polished to reveal striking natural mineral coloration.
The two pieces clearly book-match, with the pattern continuing across both polished faces when placed together. Rich shades of rust red, orange, lavender-gray, cream, yellow and black create an especially attractive “rainbow” appearance.
One bookend retains an older paper label reading “ARIZONA PETRIFIED WOOD” and describing the fossilization process. The original label states an age of approximately 160 million years; it is being preserved as part of the history of the piece rather than presented as a current scientific dating.
Each bookend has felt applied to two adjoining surfaces, allowing the pair to be positioned in more than one orientation.

Substantial, heavy solid stone specimens with polished display faces and naturally rough exterior bark/wood surfaces.
