Antique Stepback Sewing Box Old Green Paint Spool Holder Caddy Country Primitive.
Description: This simple yet lovely antique sewing box with spool holder likely dates from the late 19th c.to very early 20th c. It was found in RI; anearly identical piece in one of my sewing references is identified as mid-late 19th c and from Massachusetts. Handmade from pine with hand-made round iron tacks, the box has a great country form; it features a curved top and profile, and two stepback shelves with pins for spool holders over 1 drawer with a simple wooden pull. It's finished with old and original dark blue-green paint. A lovely and useful country primitive sewing box!Sorry, spools are not included, shown for illustration! (I'm running very low on spools right now!)
Condition: Excellent antique condition, with age-appropriate wear; there is a tight, old split on one side, and a tiny chip on the upper right corner of the drawer. The green paint has some corner wear, and some age-appropriate crackling on the sides. (See photos.)
