Antique Shores Mueller Extract Bottle Cedar Rapids Iowa 3 Oz Label Cork 1910s-30 For Sale

Antique Shores compound extract bottle prepared by the Shores-Mueller Company, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This early 3-fluid-ounce glass bottle retains a substantial portion of its original multicolor paper label and its original aged cork stopper.

The surviving label identifies a compound flavoring extract containing vanilla extract, vanillin and coumarin, along with additional ingredients. It features a portrait of G.A. Shores and the Shores trademark.

The bottle has attractive embossed lettering along the narrow sides, including “SHORES-M” and “CEDAR RAPIDS IOWA.”

Shores-Mueller was a Cedar Rapids catalog manufacturer of extracts, household products and other preparations. Its historic factory was constructed in 1911, and historical records document the company operating under the Shores-Mueller name through the early 1930s. This bottle is therefore conservatively estimated to date from approximately the 1910s–early 1930s.

Condition:
Antique pre-owned condition. Bottle appears free of obvious major cracks or large chips. Expect minor scratches, bubbles, surface irregularities and light residue associated with age and early glass manufacture.

Original paper label has significant loss at the upper portion/right side, along with fading, discoloration, holes, edge loss and general age wear. The central portrait, formula, capacity and manufacturer information remain largely readable.

Original cork is still present but is very dry, fragile and deteriorated, with considerable deterioration/loss at the exposed top. Cork has not been removed and should be handled carefully.
