Offered is an antique Southwestern Native American coiled basketry tray or shallow bowl measuring approximately 10 inches in diameter by 2 inches high.
This attractive basket features an elaborate radiating geometric design worked in contrasting natural tan and dark brown/black fibers. The pattern develops outward from a dark central area into bold geometric and curving elements, creating excellent visual and decorative appeal.

Natural plant-fiber coiled construction with contrasting light and dark weaving elements. Materials appear consistent with willow and dark martynia/devil's claw traditionally used in Southwestern basketry; however, the fibers have not been scientifically tested or positively identified.

Please examine ALL PHOTOGRAPHS CAREFULLY, including the close-up images. The photographs show the actual basket being offered and are an important and integral part of the condition description. Natural irregularities in shape, weave and coloration should be expected in an old handmade basket.
IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTION & AUTHENTICITY DISCLAIMER:
No maker identification, tribal documentation, certificate of authenticity, collection history or documented provenance accompanies this basket.
The attribution to the Yavapai / Western Apache basketry tradition, Arizona/Southwestern origin, approximate late 19th-early 20th century age, and possible willow and martynia/devil's claw materials represents a good-faith opinion based upon visible characteristics and comparison with known Southwestern basketry traditions only.
These attributions are NOT guaranteed. Similar materials, techniques, forms and design characteristics were used by multiple Southwestern Native American basket-making traditions.
The seller makes no representation that this basket has been professionally authenticated, appraised or independently examined by a Native American basketry specialist.
Buyer should make their own determination regarding age, cultural/tribal attribution, origin, materials, maker, authenticity and condition before purchasing.
