Authentic antique cast-iron sad iron rest manufactured by Enterprise Manufacturing Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a prominent American manufacturer of household implements and sad irons during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The raised cast lettering reads “ENTERPRISE” across the upper portion and “MFG CO. PHILA. PA.” around the lower edge.
Enterprise was historically associated with the removable-handle sad-iron systems that became popular during the late 1800s. This heavy cast-iron rest was designed to provide a safe surface for setting down a heated flat/sad iron.
There is an additional worn cast marking on the right side that may be a pattern or model number, but it is not sufficiently clear to identify with certainty.
Condition: Original antique condition with substantial age-related surface oxidation, rust, discoloration, casting irregularities and patina. No attempt has been made to refinish or restore the piece. Raised Enterprise lettering remains visible. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.
