Exceptional oversized antique 45-star American flag measuring approximately 90 inches x 136 inches (7.5 ft x 11.3 ft).
The 45-star flag became the official flag of the United States on July 4, 1896 following Utah’s admission to the Union and remained official until July 3, 1908.
This example features individually appliquéd stars, sewn construction throughout, original canvas hoist, metal grommets, and impressive large-format proportions seldom encountered today. The stars display period stitching characteristics and the flag retains outstanding visual appeal with strong color contrast between the blue canton and red and white stripes.
Large flags of this size were typically intended for institutional, civic, commercial, parade, or public display use. Due to their exposure and heavy use, surviving examples in this scale are considerably harder to locate than smaller collector-sized flags.
