Smith was a prominent progressive era Southern politician who served as the Governor of Georgia (1907–1909, 1911) and later as a U.S. Senator.

The reverse side retains its complete, original paper backpaper insert from the legendary manufacturer The Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark, New Jersey. It cleanly displays their corporate branding, early patent dates from 1894/1896, and the Allied Printing Trades Council union label stamp.

This item is in excellent antique condition for a piece over 115 years old.
