Up for sale is a substantial antique Victorian-era mantel clock retailed by the luxury house J. E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia, dating to the c. 1880s–1890s.
Crafted from heavy, solid black Belgian slate/marble, this piece features a deep, uniform jet-black finish without light veining. The architectural cabinet includes a flared base, stepped crown header, and incised gold-gilded floral scrollwork. The white enameled dial is signed "J. E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia" and bordered by a beaded brass bezel.
