Vintage handmade rawhide frame drum set, believed to date from 1995 based on the handwritten “1995” found on the inside of the wooden drum frame.
Includes all 3 pieces shown:
• Rawhide frame/hand drum – approximately 15" across
• Long rawhide-wrapped drum beater – approximately 26" long
• Small rawhide rattle – approximately 11" long
Beautiful handmade construction with a natural rawhide drum head stretched over a wooden frame and rawhide lacing/handhold on the reverse. The long beater is extensively wrapped in rawhide with a padded striking end. The smaller piece is a handmade rawhide rattle.
All three pieces were found together and are being sold together as found. No maker name or other identifying marks were located, so I am not attributing the set to a particular maker, tribe, or cultural origin.
Vintage pre-owned condition with natural variations, discoloration, marks and wear from age/use. The small rattle has damage/chipping at the bottom end of the wooden handle, as shown in photos. Drum and large beater display very nicely.
