AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED BY ALBERT WEINERT, NOTED SCULPTOR.
ALS, 1 page, New York City, December 23rd, 1910. The letter was written to Elmer H. Copeland, a Northampton, MA physician. Single sheet of the sculptor’s personal letterhead (8.5 x 11 inches). The letter concerns a visit to Northampton, to discuss a sculpture memorializing Seth Pomeroy, a gunsmith and revolutionary war soldier. The autograph letter is signed in full: “Albert Weinert.” Very good condition, creased at old folds, thin chipping at extremities.
Albert Weinert (1863–1947) was a German-American sculptor. Born in Leipzig. Weinert attended the Royal Academy of Art and Applied Art there and then the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Belgium.
He is most famous for his Haymarket Martyrs\' Monument, in the German Waldheim Cemetery, Chicago, 1893. His other works include:
