WHY THIS ONE IS FUN:
Signing in character and then sketching the bag turns a routine autograph into something closer to a small piece of original art. It is a genuinely charming card, and it photographs far better than most novelty signatures.
ABOUT MURRAY LANGSTON:
Langston appeared on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and The Midnight Special and was a regular on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour before the bag — as the card’s own reverse notes. The Unknown Comic character, born of a broke comedian not wanting to be recognised, became one of the defining running gags of The Gong Show and one of the most recognisable images of nineteen-seventies American television.
