Pre-owned vintage collectible in very good overall condition. Bear retains its original Fifth Edition 2001 hang tag and Texaco captain uniform with hat, embroidered Texaco patches, tie and gold-tone buttons. Fur and clothing present nicely. Includes the original illustrated Captain Tanker’s Master metal tin bank with coin slot in lid. Tin may show light age/storage wear consistent with a 25-year-old collectible. Fantastic piece of Texaco advertising memorabilia!
This 2001 Fifth Edition “Captain Tanker’s Master” teddy bear was designed by Sally Morrison Stringer for Monkey Island Bears & Friends. The bear is dressed as a classic Texaco tanker captain in a black uniform jacket with striped cuffs, white shirt, black tie and matching Texaco captain’s hat.
Even better, he comes with his original large metal display tin, which doubles as a coin bank. The colorful tin features Captain Tanker’s Master along with a Texaco tanker ship scene.
The original hang tag explains the inspiration for the character: during the 1950s and 1960s, conventional tankers gave way to huge supertankers, many carrying Texaco fuel oils around the world.
Included: Captain Tanker’s Master teddy bear, original Fifth Edition 2001 hang tag, and original Texaco metal tin bank.
Bear measures approximately 16” seated/tall based on your ruler photo; the tin has been documented elsewhere at about 17.5” high.
