Up for sale is an exceptionally well-preserved, authentic 1959 U.S. Military Issue "Demo" Pocket Knife (Model MIL-K-818), manufactured by the renowned Camillus Cutlery Company.
This piece was produced under the strict Revision B specifications issued by the U.S. government in 1959, making it a fantastic addition to any Cold War, Vietnam War era, or military knife collection.
Key Features & Collector Condition Points:
- Intact Maintenance Stud: Unlike the vast majority of field-used examples, the highly sought-after firearm maintenance stud on the screwdriver/bottle opener tool is 100% intact and unbroken. This small pin was used by servicemen for field maintenance on rifles like the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine.
- Excellent Main Blade: The main spear-point blade retains its full factory profile and correct curvature. It has not been aggressively sharpened down or reprofiled.
- Perfect Backsprings & Alignment: A flat inspection along the spine reveals zero cracks, hairline fractures, or bowing. The backsprings sit completely flush, straight, and tight against the liners with no gaps.
- 4-Blade Configuration: Features the main spear blade, a heavy-duty can opener (stamped "CAN OPENER"), a combo bottle opener/screwdriver with the maintenance stud, and a leather punch/awl. It also features the original steel lanyard bail.
- Tang Stamp: Clearly stamped "CAMILLUS / 1959" at the base of the main blade.
Condition Report:
The knife is in excellent vintage condition. It shows light, honest surface pocket scuffs and minor scratches consistent with its age, but free of deep pitting, rust, or mechanical defects.
