Fought Peru-Ecuador WarDESCRIPTIONOriginal vintage photograph documenting a Douglas 8A-3P attack aircraft on the final assembly line at Douglas Aircraft Company\'s El Segundo Division, dated December 12, 1938.The plane is shown right side, mid-build, with its national roundel and the name \"Levantar\" (Spanish for \"to rise\") visible on the fuselage.This particular airframe was one of only ten Douglas 8A-3Ps built for the Peruvian Air Force under an export order placed in 1938.The type had completed its first flight test just three weeks before this photo was taken, so this print captures a brand-new combat design still being finished on the factory floor.Serialed 412 through 421, these attack planes were assigned to Peru\'s 31st Strategic Reconnaissance and Attack Squadron and saw combat in the July 1941 war between Peru and Ecuador, years after rolling off this same production line.Three aircraft from this same order were flown nonstop from El Segundo to Lima, a 7,709 km delivery flight completed in just under 25 hours, a genuinely notable long-range feat for a single-engine attack plane in 1938.The factory caption is burned into the negative and reads \"4372 Douglas El S.
